How to listen to brand new music - For FREE

We're all familiar with the great, instant ways that you can buy or stream new music. From streaming services like Pandora, Mog, and Spotify to download stores like iTunes and Amazon, music on the spot has become an expectation rather than a luxury.

What if the credit card is full, though? There's no need to jump to illegal downloads – nobody really wants the music business to go out of business, but there's also no reason to go without your favorite tunes, whether you're in your car, home, or just cruising around with your earbuds in. Mix a taglist with all your favorites, and you can stream for free - commercial free.

Here's an example. This morning, the top 5 songs on iTunes are "If This Was a Movie" by Taylor Swift, "We Found Love" by Rihanna and Calvin Harris (we love Calvin here at Eye-C), "Ours" also by Taylor Swift, "Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO, and "Without You" by David Guetta and Usher. Of these, "Without You", "We Found Love", and "Sexy and I Know It" have official videos on YouTube, or if you're ready to dance, they all have re-mixes on SoundCloud. The two Taylor Swift songs don't have official videos posted, but there are a lot of nice home-made ones that have good sound, and there's a great live version of "Ours" from the Country Music Awards.

So how do you make a playlist and listen to the Top 5 streamed for free? Use Eye-C Taglists (available free here), and browse or search for each song. You'll see them all in both SoundCloud and YouTube, and you just tag each one #top5november2011, or some other term you like. Then go to your taglists, click that tag, and press play. You're streaming the top 5, whereever you are, commercial-free – FOR FREE. Cooler, your friends can add to the list, making it longer and more interesting.

If you ever want to listen to just your original list, just tap the filter button at the top of the list, then tap "Show stuff from..." and select "Me". Your list is back to just yours.

Enjoy your free tunes!
